The Bloop was an ultra-low-frequency underwater sound detected in Summer 1997 by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Background
The "Bloop" sound was repeatedly recorded in the Summer of 1997 on the Equatorial Pacific Ocean hydrophone array. The sound yielded a general location near 50°S 100°W (far off the west coast of southern South America).
