420 Enhance Your Calm

From MysteryWiki

The 420 Enhance Your Calm error is an HTTP status code returned by the version 1 Search and Trends Twitter API when a rate-limit is in progress ("Error Codes & Responses"). The 420 error is part of the 4xx class of status codes which are "intended for cases in which the client seems to have erred" ("9.4 Client Error 4xx").

The phrase "Enhance Your Calm" likely originates from the 1993 film Demolition Man, in which the character Lenina Huxley tells the character John Spartan to "enhance his calm".

It has also been noted that the choice of the number "420" might relate to the number's usage in cannabis culture.
