Sherman, Linda

From MysteryWiki

Background

Linda Sue Sherman (née Lutz) was born to Walter Henry and Elenora M. Lutz (née Bussmeyer)[1] in 1958[2]. She had one older brother, Dennis Walter Lutz (2 December 1947 - 27 January 2016)[3].

Walter Henry Lutz (9 June 1918 - 30 January 1990) was a U.S. Army Sergeant who served in World War II[4]. Elenora was born in 1920 and died in 1995, but not much else is known about her or her life[5]. Walter Henry Lutz[6] was the son of Martha M. Lutz (estimated born 1893). Walter had a single sister, Marie M. (estimated born 1921 or 1923). Martha's father had been born in Germany and her mother had been born in Illinois. She had reported that she had been widowed in the 1930 United States Census and that she was married in the 1940 United States Census, so presumably she had been married twice. Elenora M. Bussmeyer (1920[7] - 1995) was the daughter of Fred W. (estimated born 1884) and Amiela E. Bussmeyer (estimated born 1889). She had six siblings: Dorthy, Ruth E., Bernice A., Mildred E., Fred Jr., and Aurther R. Both of Fred W. Bussmeyer's parents were born in Germany, as were both of Amiela's parents. The name Elenora Bussmeyer appears nowhere in the 1940 United States Census, although the name "Elenore Bussmeyer" does, and presumably refers to the same person[8].

Linda Sherman spent her entire life in North St. Louis County. She grew up on Dadebridge Court in Ferguson, Missouri, attending McCluer High School. Linda almost did not graduate high school, as she was 17 and pregnant when she became married to fellow classmate Donald Sherman. The ceremony took place at Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Cool Valley on 10 February 1975. The couple continued to attend their high school while renting a house next door to Linda's parents. Linda's daughter, Patricia Marie "Patty", was born that August, during the summer break between Linda's junior and senior year (Higgins, "BODY OF EVIDENCE").
