The Tamam Shud case[1][2], sometimes referred to as the Mystery of the Somerton Man, is a John Doe case involving an unidentified man found dead on 1 December 1948 in Glenelg, South Australia.

  1. So named after the Persian phrase tamám shud, printed on a scrap of paper found in the man's pants.
  2. In many subsequent reports, tamam was misspelled as taman.
